Every once in a while a movie comes along that makes you wonder what in the world they were thinking when they decided to put this movie together. The action is so off the wall, the story line is so ludicrously outrageous, and the fight scenes so incredibly over the top that you have to wonder if it is some kind of joke. But when a movie like this pulls of two hours of fantastic entertainment, then its all worth it. "Crank: High Voltage," starring Jason Statham is such a movie. One you absolutely cannot miss.

Our fabulous tale begins with the hero being thrown out of a helicopter. The huge thud he makes on the ground makes the evening news, of course, but not before his body is scooped up and taken away in a van filled with questionable characters. Next thing we know, our hero is lying in a make shift hospital, and being operated on by a doctor with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth.

He comes to, only to learn his real heart has been swapped out by a fake one. We find out that our hero has an exceptionally strong heart, and it has been stolen to be implanted into the leader of a notorious Chinese gang somewhere in Southern California. So our hero has to not only find his original heart, but he also has to find somebody to swap it out with the electrical one that has been implanted into him.

There's only one problem. His temporary heart is run by electricity from an external battery that gets destroyed in an accident. So he must continually give himself electrical shocks to keep his temporary heart from giving out on him. This makes for an interesting chase across the badlands of southern California, as he battles gangsters from all sorts of walks of life.

Throughout the entire quest to find his original heart, he is in constant contact with a buddy of his, who happens to be a skilled open heart surgeon, although we learn he has had his medical license taken away due to some unfortunate accident that happened with an ex girlfriend of his. But nevertheless, we trust that once our hero locates his original heart, his buddy will be able to swap it out with the fake one.

We have the final battle, which includes our hero, two rival gangs, and a gangsters head that is being kept alive in jar. In a desperate attempt to zap his heart, he nearly kills himself through electrocution, and bursts into flames. But the electrical shock proves to be a bit too strong, and he is engulfed in flames. Meanwhile, his accomplice successfully finds his original heart, and his buddy, the disgraced heart surgeon attempts to restore him to health. Will he succeed? The singular way to learn the truth is to buy or rent this DVD before they are all gone.
