GSM Cell Phones and Smartphone Industry Gets More Competitive After Casio, Hitachi and NEC Merge

In yet another move to try to get in on the smartphone and GSM Cell Phones craze that has dominated consumers and manufacturers alike it now seems that Japanese companies Casio, Hitachi and NEC will try to merge in hopes of developing a successful company while cutting back on the manufacturing costs. While each company has seen major success in manufacturing other electronics, on the smartphone and GSM Cell Phones front all have struggled.

The idea is a good one. The companies will spend less on their own warehouses, employees and development teams while competing against each other and will now form one company and find a product that works and is successful. The merger will make them the second largest mobile device maker in Japan behind only Sharp. The merger will be for the cell phone industry only and not for other products and it will only include the developmental side of things; the production has yet to be decided.

These types of moves have been common in the last year with everyone wanting to get on the smartphone and GSM Cell Phones train before it leaves town for good. Honestly, this may be the last year companies can make their mark to be remembered in the future. So if not now, when? That was the thinking of the three companies and it looks as though it could be a smart move for them. Sony, for example, was doing poorly in the market up until the merged with Ericsson, a Swedish company, and now the two are working quite well together.

In this day in age when technology is advancing so quickly and so many creative minds are coming up with so many innovative ideas there really is no time to wait around. A company either starts working at it right away or they will be left in the dust in a matter of a few years. So these three giants in their respective areas are giving it one last try and it will be interesting to see what comes out of it. Whether or not they succeed, only time will tell. But the great thing for them is that they are making this decision before it is too late, and such a conglomerate of successful business ought to be able to find a way to stake their claim in one of the largest growing technological fields to date. So let's hope the innovations get going and we the consumers can benefit.
