Everyone tries their best to decorate their home. Rugs play an important role in interior decorating. Before decorating your room with rugs you should keep some points in mind otherwise the rug you choose may not have the effect you want. 1. Measure the area properly which you want to cover and buy your rug accordingly. Nowadays area rugs are available in a wide variety of sizes in the market. Measure the area you want to cover with it and purchase accordingly. You do not need wall to wall rug. But if you really want that traditional wall to wall style then the best time to measure the area is when your room is empty. It is also important to know that the rug sizes provided by most manufacturers are approximate and can vary by as much as 2-3 inches. 2. Color of the rug plays an important role in your house decor. If you have a large room where enough sunlight enters then it is no problem. Choose any color for that room. But for your small room think twice before deciding on a color. Visually a light colored rug makes the area look large. Moreover it increases the brightness of a small room while dark colors like navy-blue suppresses the natural light of the room and can make an already small room feel even smaller. So if you want to enhance color and light go for the light shades and if you want bring some cool effect by reducing the light, then opt for the darker shades. 3. If you want to use patterned rug then choose the pattern cautiously. Keep in mind the design of the furniture and the pattern of your curtains and carpet so they match the design of the floor rugs. 4. Different shapes of rugs are available in the market. Some are for hanging purpose; some have to be placed on a patch of floor or some on tabletop. Decide which one is right for your home décor. 5. Cost of the rug is another important thing. You may increase the budget to get the best thing but think twice about whether you will feel comfortable if a flock of guests drop food and drinks on it! On the other hand if you go for the cheap versions they may not be as long lasting. So it is better to go for the ones which are a comfortable price range but do not compromise on quality.
