If you're a philandering husband who's been cheating with someone other than your wife, this is bad news. I'm looking at you, Tiger Woods. On the other hand, if you're on the other side of the fence, a wife who suspects her husband has been unfaithful, then this is good news. This is good news because it means that he can't pull the wool over your eyes and just delete the incriminating texts and act as if nothing is going on. In fact, these days, deleted cell phone text messages are some of the best evidence of a cheating husband because they aren't so easy to delete. Even if your husband is clever enough to use some kind of code to disguise the true nature of the texts, the fact that he is deleting them means he feels the need to hide something. Cell phones have made our lives easier in a myriad of ways, which is generally a good thing. What is not a good thing, though, is how easy they have made cheating. They allow communication between the people cheating in situations where it is easy to hide the communication, and they allow them to avoid being caught in places where they shouldn't be. Text messages are probably the best thing to happen to cheating husbands since the cheap motel. You can send messages on the sly, in full view of your wife, you can get message discretely and then get rid of any trace of the incriminating evidence. Except you can't. Not really. One unknown truth of any kind of electronic device that has a memory is that whatever is on is on it forever. That means that deleted cell phone text messages are still probably in there to be found. You can retrieve text messages long after they've been deleted. What you need to do is get your husband's phone and take it to someone well versed in cell phone forensics. A digital recovery specialist is going to be well versed in getting into the guts of a cell phone and pulling out every dirty little secret that's on it.
