Cloud servers have been gaining a lot of popularity these days. A cloud server involves using several computers, all of which are interconnected. Cloud computing involves hosting information and data amongst multiple computers. A cloud computing vendor can be better illustrated by describing it as a sort of third party web hosting service, which meets permanent or temporary hosting needs. The safety of using a cloud platform has been the subject of debate. Experts in the field have not found conclusive data on the safety of the information stored in cloud servers. A prevalent issue is the safety of sensitive data as well as the reliability of the physical location where the data is stored. It has also been shown that cloud hosts don't really know for certain which of their computing resources are launched in a particular cloud. Many cloud hosts also don't test the security of the cloud resources deployed. These issues might not be of great security risk as these risks are involved in almost all web applications. A non- profit organization called the "Cloud Security Alliance" has been formed to promote security assurance among cloud computing manufacturers. By creating a consensus on certain security issues, the Alliance helps companies to engage only in the best security practices. This organization helps ensure security to cloud servers. The organization strives to do this because cloud components could and should be just as secure as local components. Security varies from company to company that provide cloud hosting. Some companies just give their consumers a virtual machine and a public IP address. Other companies are more discreet. They offer private networks which are completely isolated and inaccessibly by other tenants, even though they're in the same cloud. In these private networks, the cloud servers are run and the public can only access them when the client authorizes such access. Many companies provide a middle ground for the two aforementioned services: they provide a layered defence with passwords for virtual machines, dedicated virtual firewalls, and series firewalls. Given the number of options available, you have to choose carefully. Before making a decision it would be best to compare the security services of different companies and pick one that works best for you. They should negotiate their contracts for security beforehand. If you're not completely technologically savvy in this department it would be smart investment to outsource to a registered and competent cloud vendor. Also, a number of steps can be employed by the consumer to ensure their IP address is safe and there are no attempts to hack information. Like all things hosted on the internet, the cloud server too is prone to security risk. However, this shouldn't dishearten you. Taking a couple of extra steps can help immensely improve your company's security.
