All About Kyle Walker-From The England Football Kits And Players Series

The Spurs defender Kyle Walker celebrated his 21st birthday on 28th May 2011 and while out on loan to Villa this season has been seen wearing the Aston Villa burgundy and light blue football kits. Next season looks set to see Kyle back in the blue and white football kit of Spurs!

It should have been a very happy birthday for Kyle who has had a remarkable second half of the season climaxing in his call up to the England squad for the Wales Euro 2012 qualifying match.

Capello has named Kyle Walker in his squad again, just a few days before his 21st birthday, for the Euro qualifier against Switzerland. Walker has played for England on the under 21s squad in four matches; three of which were victories and one defeat.

Born on 28th May 1990, Kyle grew up in Sheffield in the Sharrow district. Recommended by Football Unites, Racism Divides (FURD), a youth and social inclusion project and charity based in Sheffield, Walker aged seven joined Sheffield United. He made his way through the ranks to be a regular in the reserves by 2008.

His made his full debut for Sheffield United in the FA Cup third round match against Leyton Orient on 13th January 2009, after a short loan spell to Northampton Town to gain experience, where he played 9 games over a few months.

His full league debut with Sheffield United was against Swansea City on 25th April 2009. He held onto his place as his team entered the play offs and was the youngest Sheffield United player to play at Wembley. He joined Spurs in July 2009 but was loaned back to his old club for the 90/10 season.

From Tottenham Hotspurs Kyle has spent a substantial amount of time out on loan, making 20 appearances for QPR (Queens Park Rangers) and around 12 for Villa so far this season. Walker looks set to be called back from loan for next season.

In early May 2011 he was struggling in the draw against Everton and was subbed in the match against Newcastle. Critics kicked off, as they do, but Walker used social media to fight back.

He tweeted: "One bad performance and one just below average and people start questioning you, typical! I'm 20!"

Spurs manager, Redknapp said: "Kyle will be back here for sure, he's still learning and got miles to learn but he is a talent, a real prospect. He has got all the attributes to be an England right-back of the future. He'll come back here and push for a place."

There are many who believe that Walker can continue to develop into an even better player, but he has his critics also. But for some closer to home, such as current Villa team mate Stewart Downing, the feedback about Kyle is positive.

In an article in the Birmingham Mail in February 2011, Downing said: "Kyle seems to be getting better and better with each game and when he drives forward he is able to give me a few more options on the overlap which is good for me. I am enjoying playing with him and we are playing quite well together."

Let's keep watching as the football style of Kyle continues to mature and he is back in the Spurs and England football kits next season!
