The Versatile Crystal Chandelier

When we think of crystal chandeliers, we often have a picture in our minds about a luxurious five star hotel in Paris with a crystal chandelier in the lobby the size of your first apartment. Or perhaps you think of a celebrity's mansion or even the famed opera house from the musical The Phantom of the Opera. Although hotels and mansions do have a knack for the lavish, a chandelier can look amazing in anyone's home and in any room.

When we do purchase crystal chandeliers for the home, the two most common places to put them are in the foyer or entryway and in the dining room above the table. There is good reason behind these two choices, they simply look great. When you walk into a home and you see a stunning chandelier, you know this is just a taste of how beautiful the rest of the home will be. If someone can afford something so gorgeous, they must have impeccable taste. The dining room is just appropriate because the room is supposed to be elegant. This is a formal place for meals, complete with fine china and sterling silver flatware. You can't expect to put a ceiling fan with a light attached above it.

But just because you're home isn't decorated like a lavish movie-star mansion, doesn't mean a chandelier won't match your décor. Whether your home is furnished with modern or southwestern items, a crystal chandelier can still work. It's all about choosing the right one. A modern home will require a more simplistic design rather than an ornate one. If your home has a southwestern or Midwestern appeal, choose a rustic brass chandelier instead. Again, not every design is over-the-top or ornate.

Now that you've realized any style of home can be adorned by a crystal chandelier, you must also realize that the piece looks great in other rooms too. A small chandelier can turn a boring bathroom into a stunning room. If you have the luxury of a large jacuzzi tub, then this will make the perfect accent lighting. Chandeliers are also great in bedrooms, even kids' rooms. You can find bright and colorful chandeliers that your children will love. What about the living room? Of course! A crystal chandelier can become the focal point of any room in the home.

Your home doesn't have to be a museum or decorated like a magnificent hotel suite to enjoy the pleasures of owning a crystal chandelier. The chandelier is an elegant piece of lighting that will make any home shine, figuratively speaking of course.
