Considering A Dental Implant?

If you have recently lost a tooth or are considering replacing teeth that you have lost in the past, Saugus dental implants are a fabulous option. Because implants are a long-term solution to the problem of missing teeth, having a Saugus dentist affix these devices to your jawbone will give you one less thing to think about. Other tooth replacements rest on the gums or use neighboring teeth as anchors, but implants more closely resemble your actual teeth.

It was not until recently that these devices became an option for tooth replacement. Instead, people who needed to fill gaps where their teeth had been were forced to use a fixed bridge or removable dentures. These options may have allowed people to eat, speak and smile clearly but they were not exactly the best long-term fix.

The titanium metal of an implant basically fuses with the jawbone to create a sturdy replacement for any missing teeth. Such an implant is in no danger of causing any embarrassment by slipping at an inopportune moment or by making strange noises that give your teeth away as fakes. Implants do not cause decay and bone loss is not unheard of, but not really common either. It is often the case that even twenty years after installation, implants will still be going strong. With a little care and maintenance, implants can function for an entire lifetime.

Although there are many people missing only one tooth who will choose to have a bridge installed over an implant, there is a downfall to this decision. Installing a bridge may require the trimming of the surrounding healthy teeth. Not only that, but bridges are known to require eventual replacing, which can be pricy. A partial removal denture, another option outside of an implant, may cause neighboring teeth to eventually wear away. Full dentures can be worse potentially causing bone loss. Implants, on the other hand, offer success rates in the ninetieth percentile.

More than 50 years of research surrounding implants suggests they are most often the best way to substitute your working teeth. An implant made to replace just one tooth is made up of three parts: the titanium implant, an abutment which fits over whatever portion of the tooth is showing above the gum line and the crown which fits over the abutment and gives the appearance of a real tooth.

Anyone who is not a growing child is a candidate for a tooth implant. It does not matter how old or young you are, or even how many of your teeth need to be replaced; an implant is likely the best way to go about fixing these oral issues. Before you go in for treatment, do your share of research and see if anyone you know can recommend you a good dental surgeon. From there, you will want to review their professional reviews online before scheduling a consultation with the health care provider. When you finally appear in their office, you should be prepared with your questions and do not be afraid to get all of the details surrounding the procedure.
