Have you ever been on a very bad website? I know at one time or another I have been on websites that I left just about as quick as I found them. This has got me thinking about what makes a website successful? Here are 10 things you can do to help make your website a success. 1. Follow the KISS principal. Keep it simple stupid. Some Internet marketers think adding fancy graphics and things to their website to spruce it up is the answer. In reality you can have an attractive website without all of the extras and still make a lot of money from it. 2. Pay attention to navigation. Is your site easy to get around it? I like websites I can find the information I came to it for very quickly. A website that is focused on a purpose is eaiser to get around in. 3. How fast does the page load? People are not going to sit around and wait for your website to load. If it takes too long they will lead without ever seeing your site at all. 4. Create your own content. If you are doing affiliate marketing for example you should write a review page and link to it off with your home page. You should also link back to your home page on every web page you have. 5. Host your own domain. Purchase a domain name that has the keywords your site is about in it. Then host it yourself. This keeps you in control and you can make changes to it whenever you want. 6. Offer freebies. People love free things and if you make that available to them they will appreciate it. You could even have a place on your site for people to come back and get new freebies in the future. 7. Build an email list. Try and get as many people as possible to give you their name and email address so you can follow up with them in the future. Put a sign up form above the fold on every web page you have. 8. Interact with your visitors. Ask them questions and encourage them to email you. Start a poll and encourage people to register and vote. When you send out an email refer people back to your site. There is actually alot that goes into having a successful website. However, none of the things are so complicated that any of us can't do them. One final tip would be to look at successful websites in your niche and see things you could do to emulate them.
