Today I think both online and off line business owners understand the importance of using the Internet to build their business. Simply put people are going to the Internet for information and you need to be online providing that information to them.

One of the best ways to do that is to write and submit small business articles. You can submit these to article directories, blog networks, as online videos, and so on. As a matter of fact the more ways you use articles to promote your business the better off you will be.

The key is to write your article around a targeted theme using one primary keyword phrase. When you do this you are optimizing that specific article so the search engines will understand what it is about.

Your goal is to target highly search keyword phrases because these are the ones people are searching for every day. Google Adwords has an excellent free website you can go to to search for keyword phrases.

Traffic Travis also has a free software you can download to get a large number of keyword phrases in multiple variations. This is good because they also tell you how many times those keywords are being searched on Google, Yahoo, and Bing.

Do not totally ignore longtail keyword phrases. These are phrases that have three or more words and many times are not as highly searched.

When you target these specific words in your articles you have a chance to rank higher much quicker because there is less competition. Even key words that are getting searched a hundred times a month can bring highly targeted traffic.

Your article should include a resource box at the end of it. Think of this as a classified ad where you get a chance to sell yourself and your company.

One trick is to link back to your website with the primary keyword phrase you want the search engines to rank you for. When you do this you are increasing your keyword relevancy to the search engines. Eventually your website can rank high for that targeted keyword phrase.

Your article should provide useful information that a consumer would want to click on the link in your resource box once they have read it.

Submit your article to the top article directories. Use a service such as Submit Your Article to reach the top directories as well as hundreds of other article directories.

Your goal is to get as many articles online as you possibly can. Small business articles are great exposure for your business and can bring long-term rankings and traffic from them. This is an excellent small business Internet marketing strategy.
