Safety is an issue that affects every area of everyday human life. At the beginning of a flight, plane passengers are given safety instructions on what to do in case of oxygen deprivation through loss of cabin pressure, and how to position themselves if a crash landing is unavoidable. Aboard a ship setting off on a cruise, passengers are also given instructions on what to do by means of a lifeboat drill, in the event of having to abandon ship. Children of school age are regularly drilled on how to safely cross the road, and elderly people advised on how to prevent the likelihood of falls. causing injuries to themselves. Homeowners are always being told to lock doors to prevent home invasions and burglary with possible bodily harm, another safety factor. For electricians the advice for their safety is to turn off all power before starting their appointed task. Electrical workers would be silly to ignore advice given to keep them safe and neglect to turn off power before starting work. All of these measures are meant to be lifesaving, not just minimizing the chances of injury. If all recommended measures are taken to heart and carried through, the chances of not sustaining injuries and staying alive are greatly maximised. This applies equally to building sites and jobs undertaken by homeowners that involve the use of ladders. Actually it could apply even more so because of the heights the work involves..
