If this is a public building, there will be a lot of pollution in the air and people still smoke in some buildings too. Anything which can get into the instrument is potentially damaging and people often put drinks down on top of it also. These are quite expensive instruments so they have to be taken care of if they are to be passed on to others. Air-conditioning and heating systems will all play a part in damaging the instrument if it is left exposed for too long so the cost of this accoutrement will be absorbed by the machine lasting a whole lot longer than if left exposed. Chairs come in all shapes and sizes so they may well have to make this up as well. Anything that stops people from touching or otherwise damaging some of the wonderful wood is well worth the cost so do not be tempted to just leave everything in its natural state. Finally, ensure that all the measurements are done correctly and double check them again. Once these pieces have been made to measure, it is not likely that the company will do them over at no cost. Getting this stage right then is important if the owner wants his instrument to look good for longer.
