Some adults that have autism live at home with their families. Some families might be able to care for the adult with autism. If the autism is severe, more care may be required then a family can provide and this is when looking into an assisted living facility might be required.

Some of the most common symptoms of adult autism are reclusive. Maintaining relationships is not of importance to some autistic adults. Many do not seek out friendships or seek social interactions. This can be very complicated for the caregiver, but this is often how the adult will always be.

Lack of empathy is another sign with autism. When someone feels bad for someone else this is considered a very normal human behavior. Empathy can be lacking in the adult with autism.
