Technology continues to become more prevalent in our lives with each passing year. It also continues to spread across a wider group of people both in age and financial standing. A great example is the prevalence of mobilephones. Today the leader is Verizon Cell Phones, however there seems to be one hundred beyond that. They continue to become more like extensions of the home and office and less as just Verizon Cellular Phones or even cell phones. Children now have cell phones as do retired octogenarians, as well as almost everybody in between. Here are some intriguing statistics compiled by a number of groups about teenagers - possibly the age group most affected by cell phones and the lack thereof. Nearly half of all teens (47% to be exact) feel their social life would end or be negatively affected without their cell phone. That's putting a lot of weight of one piece of technology, huh? And, on the other side of the coin, 57% believe their life is improved because of the use of their mobile phone. Unfortunately, we don't know what percent use each carrier such as Verizon Cell Phones. But we do know, for teenagers, quality of life can be almost directly related to owning a mobile phone. And we must keep in mind too that four out of five teenagers owns a mobile device. That's a lot of important high school kids, don't you think? Of the respondents to the surveys, 52% consider the phone,(in and of itself and regardless if it's Verizon Cellular Phones or another brand) a form of entertainment, with a third of them playing games on their mobile phones regularly. However the cell phone is not all fun, games and socializing, in actuality 80% of teens find a sense of security with their cell phone. Not only this but 79% consider it a safety net when needing a ride, 51% find it helpful for obtaining information and 35% find it a useful tool for getting someone out of a jam. There are some features of newer cell phones that teens dislike, too. Only 18% have an interest in pinpointing family and friends' locale with their cell phone and 36% actually hate the idea of a cell phone features that allows people to pinpoint their exact location. It is clear that cell phones play a key role in the social lives of the generations to come. While it is nice to know that teenagers feel a sense of security with such a device it is somewhat alarming just how crippled they feel without it. But cell phone use can be limited without taking the device away altogether and this might be the most appropriate solution to keeping future generations from being totally entrenched in their handheld device.
