When we were kids, a lot of us used to be afraid of the "monsters" in the closet. We'd often beg our parents to come in and inspect our closets, sometimes several times a night, just to make sure there was nothing lurking behind our clothes waiting to eat us. Even though we're grown up now, many of us still have that feeling there's something lurking in our closets— a big messy monster that is no match for man or beast—clutter! A messy closet is a monster that can frighten even the bravest adult. But how messy is too messy? You know the signs: you avoid opening it at all costs. And if you do need to put something in it, you hurriedly toss it in and shut the door, worried that something might escape. If you find yourself still hiding from the closet monsters again, it's time to get organized and slay the ogre of clutter! A great way to do this is get closet organizer systems. A closet organizer is the best way for the organizationally challenged to get the help they need. If you're unfamiliar with the concept, closet organizers come in many different styles, sizes and colors, and many retailers let you choose the pieces that you feel would be best for your type of closet. Shelves are a must for any closet organizer. Compartmentalizing your closet is the first step in getting your closet under control and can really come in handy the next time you're looking for that specific item. Many closet organizer systems come with drawers or cupboards to further streamline the organizing process. Think about the little things that you just don't have a place for. Have a ton of belts and no where to put them? Install a hook belt rack so the next time you're looking for the right one, it's right at your finger tips. If shoe storage is a big issue for you, wire pull-out baskets could be a great way to store them without taking up a lot of space. For men, finding a convenient place to put their ties is quite a challenge. Many closet organizers have add-ons like wire tie and scarf racks, which make getting dressed in the morning so much easier. A big problem many people with hectic lives have is finding a place to put dirty laundry that's out of the way. Your closet organizer can have a pull-out laundry hamper that leaves it out of sight and out of mind. If you're looking for something independent from the closet that still helps you with organization, get a laundry sorter hamper. These make laundry day a breeze because there are separate compartments for each type of clothing, so you don't have to spend all that time sorting. The key is to choose a system you will use. If you like the look of the cupboard in the closet, but don't think you'll actually take the time to put things in it, maybe the standard shelving is for you. All in all, be realistic, choose something you'll keep using and you will get rid of those closet monsters in no time.
