Points to Consider When Buying a New Pair of Boots

Buying a new pair of boots is like choosing a trusted new friend. Choose wisely and you have a companion for life. Boots have a classic appeal. Regardless of hem lengths or the trendy colours and accessories being shown in any particular year, they can take you from one year to the next in style. That's really the main key to consider when buying a new pair, your style. The boots you choose should be ones that embody your personal style. Since they make a statement whenever you slip them on, you will want that statement to be something that rings true with you.

With that being said, here are a few points to consider when buying a new pair of boots;

Tall boots look beautiful with a heel as high as you can stand. The tall boot is one of the most versatile shapes you can purchase. They can be worn under trousers, or paired with a pencil skirt for an elongating look. Pair the boots with a pair of opaque tights to blur the line and enhance your silhouette even more. A bit of leg peaking out between boot and skirt is fine though as well.

Flat boots are another completely different look that are much more casual. Paired with some jeans or slacks, a flatboot oozes comfortable style. Riding boots are great with full skirts that cover the top of the boot or straight legged trousers worn over the top.

Cowboy boots are a classic. Worn with jeans, they give an authentic flair, but irony is fun with playful cowboy boots. Paired with something completely different like a peasant skirt or suit, cowboy boots make an outfit your own.

The most flattering boot length is the one that hits above the widest part of your calf. The top should be snug, but certainly not digging into your flesh. Mid-calf boots are not ideal for those with chunky calves. They hit the leg at the widest point. But, on slim legs, a mid-calf boot looks nice with a skirt that hits just above the knee.

Same can be said about ankle boots, there is an art to buying and wearing ankle boots. Under trousers, nearly any style works, but if they are to be seen there are some things to keep in mind. An ankle boot that sits low, just under the ankle bone lengthens your leg. A boot that ends above your ankle will shorten the look of the leg, making it look wider in return.
