Now Is A Great Time In History If You Like Watching Movies

One thing that people have always enjoyed is watching motion pictures. All the way back to black and white silent movies, to the blockbusters of today, people have literally lined up for hours to be mesmerized by the big screen.

There a few different ways we can enjoy movies. And with technology increasing a breakneck pace, there seems to be more and more ways being invented every year. But far and away, the most popular choice is to see a movie the traditional way. In a darkened theater, with comfortable seats, a controlled environment, and for some, a huge bucket of popcorn.

The next most popular option is to watch movies at home. Up until recently, we had only a couple of choices. Watch whatever the networks have scheduled, or hop on down to your local video store. This presented the obvious limitation of choice. If the rental store did have what you wanted to see, you were out of luck.

Recently this has changed. Now you can sign up for a service that sends DVDs by mail. While the choice has increased significantly, you need to wait a couple days for your movie to arrive in the mail. This, of course, makes watching a movie less than a spur of the moment decision. What people generally do is go to the service's web site, and compile a list of movies they'd like to watch. The DVDs are sent to you in the mail according to a predetermined plan, usually one to three at a time. As soon as send back a movie you've watched, they send you the next one on your list.

In the past few years, more and more people have been downloading movies from the Internet, and watching them on their computers. Although this gives people more choices, it also comes with more restrictions. More often than not, these movies are downloaded from peer to peer networks, meaning that you have to download several different pieces from several different sites. You then need to have special software to properly put the pieces together. The main drawback for this method, of course, is that it is completely illegal, and can get you into a lot of trouble.

However, recently there have been sites that offer full movie downloads that are completely legal. And because they are downloaded from a central server, you don't need to buy or download special software to put different pieces together. An additional benefit is that once you download them, you can keep them as long as you want. Many people decide to burn them to a DVD and save them to their personal movie library.

With more and more technology being developed, watching movies will only get easier and easier. If you enjoy watching movies, then this is a great time to be a fan of the motion picture.
