When you cut an onion, do you tear up? Have you ever had the chance to experience a pepper burn? If you do a lot of TexMex cooking, then you more than likely answered "yes" to those questions. If you cook a lot of TexMex food, then you have more than likely experienced a good amount of situations that medical science did not help.

Tearing up as you are cutting an onion is very common. However, you do not have to suffer any longer. You can always try Spanish red onions as an alternative or alternatives. Some even try a dash of onion like cuisine substitutes. You can still cut onions and not tear up. What is the trick? It involves a candle. Of all these an aurora of a lit wick can save you and your kitchen staff tearful eyes. Interestingly the onion vegetable - or some call "fruit" is not consistent with what some might even call "chemical warfare". Its the middle of the bulb that has the greatest effect in what might be considered the prototype of its tear gas "effects". Never mind weapons of mass destruction - all Sadaam Husssein needed was scores and scores of of onions , onion fields and perhaps a raft of onion peeling machines all simply to extract the extract of the compounds which causes this effect. However most of the time those who cook with these hot ingredients and spices will tell you that the pleasure that their families and entertained guests obtain from their Tex Mex hot spiced cooking is well worth the effort in the pantry and at the grocery store or wholesale.

Do you enjoy tortillas? There are two ways you can warm them up. First, you could wrap them with a dampened paper towel in some aluminum foil and place them in an oven that has been preheated at 300 degrees for ten minutes.

When you take them out, you will have nice, warm tortillas. You can also use the microwave to heat up your tortillas

After you slice or handle fresh fruit, they have a tendency to turn brown. Whether you are cutting a peach, some strawberries, an avocado or apples, try putting a small amount of lemon or lime juice on it. The ascorbic acid that is in the juice will help the oxidation that has been associated with the browning process.

After you bite into a fresh hot chili or pepper, grabbing a glass of water is a natural reflex. However, did you know that water makes the burning worse? The chemical that causes that burning sensation only gets worse when you drink water. Instead, we recommend you grabbing some ice cream or milk. More than one way or means will give the sufferer apparent relief - simple milk down the hatch is one way. A glass of tap water or even luxury premium H3O brand waters will not do it.

In TexMex cooking, you will encounter many different things. You definitely cannot cook TexMex style without using roasted peppers as these make for a main dish. Roasting peppers is not only delicious, but it is easy to do. All you have to do is cut the pepper in quarters or halves, take the seeds out with a spoon, put them on a baking dish and place them in an oven at 400 degrees for ten to twenty minutes. With this advice, we know cooking that TexMex will be even more fun...
