The easiest way to build the kind of website that search engines love is having a simple content site and making sure that you have relevant links and tags on every page. Then you will want to get backlinks to the pages on your website. In other words, it's not necessary to resort to the latest fad or to any black hat tricks. What has worked for years still works today. The search engines adore content. The more content you have on your website the higher up you should rank in the search engines. In order to avoid potential problems when you build your site always use unique content rather than duplicate content. Duplicate content is using material exactly as it appears elsewhere on the Internet. There is some debate as to whether or not duplicate content is something to be avoided. Some people say that it will hurt your search engine rankings while others say that it doesn't matter at all. I say why risk it? You can write the content yourself, rewrite Private Label Rights (PLR) articles, or hire a ghostwriter to write it for you. Now, when you create content you will want to focus on an exact keyword for each of the pages you develop. Therefore, before you even begin to build your website you should do research to find a minimum of twenty to thirty keywords you can write articles about. You can use the free Google Adsense Keyword tool to help you to find these keywords. Every article you write should be on a topic that other people are searching for. To get the results you may want to focus on keywords that have a minimum of 1,600 people searching for them each month. Search engines also prefer simple sites. Because it's best to keep it simple you could build either a plain, easy to read HTML site or you could use the popular WordPress platform to build your sites. Keeping it simple means you should avoid using flash as well as images that take up a lot of bandwidth. You (and the search engines) want your website to load as quickly as possible. In order to enhance your search engine rankings each page on your website should link to at least one other page on your site. You can also link to other websites from within your pages. Next, if you want to outrank your competition for the keywords you picked you should have more backlinks than they do. The backlinks should ideally come from other sites that have a high PR rating.
