When looking for a place to submit your articles it's best to locate a friendly article directory. What this refers to is an article directory that is helpful and supportive and will give you the best chance for success. When you think about it the article writer is doing for the article directory what the directory should do for the writer. The writer is giving them business and therefore helping them. So it's in the directories best interest to treat the writer as a valuable customer and give them friendly and quality service. So as a writer what should you look for and expect from a friendly article directory? First you should consider one that has been around for awhile. The longer the better because it means that they are stable and more than likely doing a good job of meeting the needs of the article writers. A directory that is a least two years old would seem to be one that is effective and efficient in helping get readers to your articles. You should be able to find out specific information about those who operate the site or at least a section that has an "about us" page and a page for "contact". The best sites have an easy to navigate menu that enables you to find relative information. It is important for them to quickly answer your questions. If they do not get back to you in 48 hours or less they may not be the best directory for you. You can also find out if they're a fraud by checking to see if emails you send to them just come back to you right away. Find out how many authors they house. They should have at least one thousand. Ten thousand or more is even better. Variety is a huge selling point. Directories that have thousands and thousands must have something going for them. They should also offer free articles in hundreds of categories. You don't want a directory that is limited in subject matter. The more categories they offer the more chances you have to submit your various types of articles. It's also important to note the directories terms and policies. You want a directory that cares about quality and has a system for monitoring articles. If they are fully automated without human control then they probably aren't concerned with providing quality and original articles. A friendly article directory puts an emphasis on featuring new authors and their articles. This is another great way to get some added exposure.
