Copyright (c) 2010 Ianson Internet Marketing In every country there are numerous public sector jobs. Some jobs are essential for the common good while others exist because the government has the monopoly on them and has not yet relinquished control to the private sector. These non-essential jobs are a drain on the taxpayers' limited funds. Education is a field where there is opportunity to enter the labor force as an employee of the government or of a private company. There is no reason why the government is involved at all in this field. Most all of the public sector jobs in education up to the university level are better paid when you are a public sector employee. The drawback is that most of these schools are sub-par and some outright dangerous. The jobs here offer good benefits but the localities can no longer pay these benefits. Future public sector teachers will have to see a diminishing retirement plan. Police and fire officials are public sector jobs. In this area there is no choice. Coordination must come before profits and this cannot be left to the private sector. In addition, the job done by city firemen and policemen surpasses the productivity of all other public sector jobs. The sanitation public sector jobs are on par with the firemen and policemen. Their services are too essential to be left to the private sector. Snow removal and garbage collection needs to be centrally planned. When it comes to hospitals and social services, the public sector jobs show poor productivity. While nurses are in demand and command high pay, whether in the public or private sector, most human services public sector jobs are wasting the taxpayers' money. Construction in the public sector is under the authority of the municipalities and are not much more than make work projects. For example, the same streets will be fixed over and over again wasting money. Work projects are always over budget. Essential and emergency services need to be public sector jobs; they serve the "commons" which is an area (not necessary a physical area) that is enjoyed and used by all of the public. Education and most human services public sector jobs would be better off transferred to the private sector. This would save money and create more efficient services. There are several specialist Job Sites and Job Boards available that focus on such positions which can all be found on the Internet
