There are 3 ways you use to remove a laminate flooring: using a heat gun, using a motorized floor stripper, or using a manual scraper

Laminate flooring are planks arranged in a pattern to add furnishings to your floor. If you think of redesigning your flooring and want to know some do-it-yourself ways in order to remove your current laminate flooring, we offer you the following suggestions.

Using a heat gun

If you are planning in re-using the laminate floors that your about to remove, you can use a heat gun to melt or loosen the glue that sticks the flooring down. The laminate flooring is not directly attached to the floor but rather a pile of boards that are glued together in a parallel manner. Using a heat gun can help protect the quality of the flooring equipment. Use a 300 to 500 BTU heat gun to loosen the adhesive material on the laminate flooring. Allow the heat gun to go over each tile or strip of flooring in a swinging motion for about 5 minutes at a few centimeters distance away from the surface of each flooring. You make seek the assistance of a contractor when using this method. You may use a putty to remove the laminate flooring starting from the corner, one by one.

Using a motorized floor stripper

A rather costly alternative method for removing glued laminate floors is using the motorized floor stripper. The process of removing is quick using the motorized stripper. This contraption will extract up the edges or pieces of the flooring utilizing a razor-like metal to scrap up the laminate flooring and the adhesive material that's attaching it. Usual rates for rents of this machines are around $100. Place this machine on the edges of the laminate flooring then turn it on, maneuver the machine like a vacuum cleaner pushing it back and forth along the laminate flooring to extract it. One major drawback in using this though is that you can no longer make use of the remove laminate flooring.

using a manual scraper

The slowest and most exhausting method of removing laminate flooring is the manual method. Though it may be cheap and doesn't require any complex equipment, more work is involved. You can make use of chisels, putty knives, hammers or screwdrivers to remove the flooring. Start at the corner of each flooring then chisel up between the wall and the edges to remove each piece. Continue until each strip or piece is removed then scrape or clean up any leftover adhesives or torn pieces from the floor.

Choose which method is convenient for you. It's best to consider whether you would still like to re-use your laminate flooring or you may opt to buy a new one.
