The History of Sekonda

The history of Sekonda begins in 1966 when the British company was founded in order to distribute an assortment of mechanical watches that were being created in Russia. Sekonda wanted to become the leading distributor of fashionable and useful watches of their time. They accomplished this through excellent customer service, high marketing values, a keen eye for style and superb quality control.

As technology of watch making as well as manufacturing of watches shifted to Hong Kong Sekonda followed this trend and was able to capitalize on the technology of quartz watches as well as the manufacturing companies of Hong Kong. In 1988 through the present time Sekonda became known as the number one selling watch brand throughout the United Kingdom.

During the late 1990's as the world market opened up many different fashionable watches began to emerge on the market thus giving Sekonda competition they had never experienced before. Sekonda realized that in order to continue their success they needed to recognize a larger range of potential customers and their styles. In 2004, Sekonda launched Seksy which targeted women 25 to 35 years of age. This meant Sekonda needed to add a team of fashion experts for this age group in order to create a product line that would be both appeasing to the eye as well as affordable to the age group. Sekonda's marketing strategy was to connect Seksy with Sekonda thus giving the new line of watches instant validity and name recognition creating instant sales and brand identification.

Sekonda continued to add fashionable styles for both men and women of all ages. The men's line of watches which was created in 2005 and carries the name One, has approximately nine different models available today bringing the total number of watch models to approximately thirty for the Sekonda company. Sekonda is constantly watching the market, technology and trends to bring the best and most stylish watches to the market. Sekonda has recognized throughout the years that in order to keep their product at the top of everyone's mind they must have excellent customer service, marketing and the best product available for the price. The company keeps a strict eye on quality control for all of their watches regardless of the brand, cost, style or pressures from the commercial industry. This attitude has paid off for Sekonda for only 1% of their watches have ever been returned on the 1.6 million watches they have sold.
