Prostatitis patients usually find there is no quick cure for their condition. Initial visits to their physician or doctor quickly become repeat, prolonged episodes resulting in the use of long-term antibiotics as the only means of control. The Doctor may attack the problem aggressively by attempting to isolate bacterial causes and refer the patient to specialist urologists. Often they will not, rather dispensing antibiotics in a “trial and error” capacity. This can cause enormous difficulties for the patient later on due to antibiotic resistance.
To be fair to many General Practitioners, they just do not have many choices. The prevailing Western Medical standard for prostatitis has been spectacularly unsuccessful in terms of effective remedial treatment routines. And many doctors, although frustrated with the treatment standards, have clearly taken the easier prescription path, instead of dogged persistence in detection and properly targeted antibiotics.
Several major factors are to blame for this lamentable state of affairs :
1/ First and foremost, prostate-related conditions are not a “hot potato” in any Government health plan. Men tend to quietly suffer in silence, and watch the years pass one by one, while no new treatment protocols appear, and their own general state of health declines. Government funding for research and developing new medical treatment programs tends to only be given to areas of medicine where people scream the loudest, and political gains are made from expenses allocations.
2/ Prostatitis relates to a physiologically difficult part of the male body in terms of drug access, access to material for isolating pathogens, and surgical intervention.
3/ The Western Medical establishment is notoriously slow to embrace new procedures and treatment protocols, and the few medical pioneers who would independently work with new techniques are often intimidated by the possibility of malpractice and suit actions.
Prostatitis is difficult to “cure”, but it can be done, and here is how a patient needs to go about their own management...
1/ Insist on aggressive action to isolate the pathogens involved. Without knowing what the enemy is, the treatment will always be guesswork. Schools of thought in the medical world are very contradictory, some say most cases of Prostatitis are non-pathogen related. I believe that the real situation is the other way around, that most cases are thought to be non-pathogen related, simply because no pathogen has been isolated. If a patient sees no culturing results for an EPS (prostatic fluid), then ejaculate culturing should be done.
2/ On no account, EVER, continue to let your health care be handled by a Doctor telling you words similar to the following “you will just have to live with this”, or, “nothing can be done”, or “it is all in your head”. Immediately change to a new Doctor and only one who has some real experience with Prostatitis.
3/ Realize that if antibiotic prescriptions have not worked in the past, then taking them in the future will result in “management” of your condition, not a cure. Worse, long term dependence on antibiotics even for management will eventually mean that their ability to control your condition will “run out”. When this happens, the consequences will be serious.
4/ Investigate the direct injection prostatitis treatment programs currently only available in Italy, the USA, China and the Philippines. The best of them overcome the two big problems in treating chronic prostatitis. The first being the problem that oral antibiotics achieve poor penetration into the prostate and surround areas. The second is that even if penetration were good, tubes and passageways in these areas are very likely to be blocked by calcified deposits which harbor/hide infection. Those blockages need proprietary formulas to break them down. For success with this protocol, the first must be followed by the second or the treatment is sure to fail.
