Learn Magic Tricks And Impress Your Friends With This Simple Yet Powerful Card Trick

If you like doing simple card tricks, this one is easy to do, and doesn't require any special skill whatsoever. It's one of many "self working" card tricks that don't require any sleight of hand, or stacking the deck or any misdirection. This is a favorite among those that love to learn magic tricks.

The first thing you need to do is sort through the deck, and pull out all the cards of the same suit. Doesn't matter which. After than you simply order them, either from ace to king, or from king to ace. This is easiest to do while sitting at a table or any other place where you can stack and arrange the cards. Explain to them that you are going to be giving them a mental "test."

First, show them that the cards are in order, from ace to king. It doesn't matter if you put them in order in front of them or not. Just show them, they are in order, ace through king.

After that you must tell them that they have two important jobs. Firstly they must instruct you how to "mix up" the deck, and secondly, they must remember the new order. You will explain to them how they will direct you to mix up the deck, which is as follows:

If they say "deal," then you take a single card off the top, and place it face down in a new pile. If they say "double deal," then you take two cards off the top, reverse their order, and then place them on top of the new stack. You repeat this through all thirteen cards (ace through king). They can choose to say "deal" or "double deal," as they see fit, with the only caveat being that they have to remember the new order of the cards.

Here comes the fun part. Once you've finished, and you have a new stack, they'll spend a few minutes trying to determine the new order. Sometimes they'll take a guess of the new order, while other times they'll have no idea. As they are busily trying to remember the new order of cards, you can spring the magic on them. Turn over each card, one by one, and they will be amazed to see that they are still in the same order (ace through king, or king through ace). They haven't been mixed up at all.

The reason this trick works is that no matter what they say, "deal," or "double deal," the cards are still being placed onto the new deck in the same order. You can try this with the card facing up to see how this works.

The interesting thing is that some kids, usually elementary school age, will immediately understand how this trick works, while adults will remain completely dumbfounded, until you explain to them how it works. This works great after people have had a couple drinks, at a party or a bar. Have fun with this!
