There's nothing worse than having to pick up scattered garbage that's been littered over your floor due to weak or overstuffed garbage bags. And what if you're dealing with serious trash like baby diapers, bloody tissues or old leftovers? You can't take any risks with that stuff - you need to throw it away once and for all. That's where I come in. Using this handy dandy trash bags test, you will be able to determine if your trash bags are up to your standards. If they pass, great, keep chucking whatever you have. If they fail - trash 'em. 1. The Ties: Some trash bags have ties and some have handles. Others have plastic tabs that are supposed to make it easier to tie the bag together when it's finally ready to be canned. Ties make it easier to dispose of whatever you are trashing. If you are dealing with household garbage, these garbage bags will satisfy your requirements. If you need industrial style trash bags, however, you will notice that ties are not standard. The reason for this is that when dealing with fifty gallon garbage bags, those ties will rip the top of the bag - they simply aren't strong enough to handle thirty to fifty pounds of trash. So if you need trash bags for large parties, events or janitorial services, don't be dismayed if you don't see ties. You will need to determine the strength of your black garbage bags according to the next step. 2. The Plastic: There are nine different kinds of plastic, and each is recycled differently. The best way to determine plastic quality is to simply feel it. If you can feel the warmth of your fingers through the plastic, then this is middling quality plastic, and probably won't measure up to your most difficult disposals. If on the other hand, you feel a thick layer of plastic, the kind that if you were to try to poke a hole through with your finger, in which only a lighter colored grayish-white smudge would result, this is plastic that is worth reckoning with. 3. The Can: It's important to match the size of your bag with your can. If the can is too big for the bag, you are more likely to have an issue than if the bag is too big for the can. Try to plan ahead for this when considering which bag to buy. Although price is often a good indicator of quality, brand names and bulk can have an impact on the total cost of your trash bags. Since it may be hard to feel a trash bag in the store, use buyer's instinct and cost comparisons to determine which trash bags are of the highest quality.
