How To Create A Unique Landscape

In many modern neighborhoods, and even some of the older ones, houses all look the same from the outside. If you drive down a street, you can see the efforts builders made to create a consistent neighborhood feeling. The problem is, things can be too consistent and you may find your home is identical to all the others. This upsets some people because they love the idea of having a unique home they can put their own stamp on. While completely changing the home may be out of the question, but you can make subtle changes that will add some character to even the dullest, most neutral of homes. Consider using sandblast resist on outdoor landscaping rocks or a sandblast stencil to create a decorative look on stone and wood. This will give your home a feeling of uniqueness over the other homes on the street.

If you think color is the way to make a change in your home, consider adding color with flower beds. When you paint your house, you are making a commitment that is somewhat permanent. You can change the paint colors, but chances are it will take a lot of time and be a big expense. Instead of changing the color of your landscape with paint, do it with flowers. This means the color will change with the passing seasons, so you will never get bored with your choice.

Personalized signs are a great way to make your home all your own. While other people may copy your choice of flowers or colors, they will certainly not copy your identification sign. A personalized sign welcomes people to your home and lets them know they are in the right place. Place your sign near your house numbers or hang it next to the mailbox or entry gate.

If you are not ready for the bold impact of flowers, try adding shrubbery to your landscape. This adds greenery without altering the color scheme of your exterior that much. Shrubbery also adds privacy to your space. Try not to plant large bushes close to your entryway for safety reasons. Sometimes criminals use the shrubbery to hide so they can ambush you while you are unlocking the door. The best thing about adding shrubbery is it gives you something to drape with holiday lights when the Christmas season rolls around.

Those who want privacy for their homes that think they need more than just privacy shrubs and hedges, consider adding privacy fencing. Fences add a lot of flair to your property and in addition to offering privacy, they also make it easier to own pets and let small children play. When choosing a fence, pick something that compliments the existing landscape and that looks great in the neighborhood. You can paint the fence to make it stand out or to help it blend in with your home. If you are concerned about blocking the front of your home, install the fence in the backyard and create an outdoor living space your entire family can enjoy.
