For those of you lucky enough to have an amazing boss, a Christmas gift might be a nice gesture to thank them for all of the time and energy they have invested in you. It's not required but a small token of your appreciation. Thing is, buying a gift for your boss or teacher can be tricky because you don't want to get them something too nice or too expensive, but you still want your gift to be thoughtful and send the right message. Here are a few ideas: 1. A fruit basket: A big basket of fruit or treats inclusive of a nice bottle of wine is the perfect holiday gift. It gives them something to munch, something to drink, and something to keep (the basket)! And if they don't like it, or are behind on their own Christmas shopping, it's an easy one to regift! Just joking- no one does that! 2. A coffee table book: I am convinced that there is no possible way you can go wrong with a coffee table book. Everyone has a table, everyone likes to keep nice things on their table, and everyone wants something lying around that guests can look at. For these reasons coffee table books always make great gifts. Take note of something that your boss is interested in (other than work) and get them a book on that! 3. Silver cufflinks: A pair of silver cufflinks are definitely on the higher/nicer end of the boss's Christmas gift category, but nonetheless a nice, thoughtful, appropriate gift. Whether your boss is a man or woman, and whether they wear dress shirts every day, or only some days, a nice pair of silver cufflinks will always come in handy. 4. Something they've been talking about getting for themselves: If you spend a lot of time with your boss, it's likely that your conversation may have ventured away from work and onto other kinds of interests. In that time was there ever any mention of say "I need a new bike lock" or tennis racket, or a bag for all of my books? If they did mention something and it's not ridiculously expensive you should get it. Not only is it generous but it shows them that you listen, even when they're rambling on about nothing. Our bosses are the people we spend all of our weeks with. They're the ones who believed in us and have pushed us to where we need to be. I'd say that that definitely warrants an xmas present. Nothing too big or fancy, just something to say thanks.
