There are those amongst us who figure that they are beautiful enough to be photographed or to walk down catwalks all over the world displaying off wonderful clothes. Well, this may be true for some, but there are pitfalls that have to be watched out for even if this is the next super star who ever graced the catwalks. Indeed, it is always good to be with a decent and respected agency which will find the work for the individual and then just take a cut out of the earnings. Anyone wanting to try a hand at this profession should look up 'modeling' or 'models' online to see which agencies are situated in the local area. Most girls, even before they have left school, will have a view of them as being beautiful, or not, as the case may be. We are bombarded with images on a daily basis and we often compare ourselves to something which has been airbrushed and tinted beyond the norm. Indeed, there is a backlash at present that photographs in newspapers and magazines should show people as they are and not as the computer has made them. It is these unattainable body images which are thought to provoke eating disorders and this will affect males as well as females. However, if someone is determined to have a go at this profession, they should think carefully about which sphere of the business they want to go into before getting the agent to help them find work. Some agencies will want them to have a 'book' made up front which will show photos of the person in various poses and with different looks. What this does is to give the buyer some idea of what they can do with this particular person and whether their products will be advertised well. However, a good agency will certainly not want to charge exorbitant fees to someone who will inevitably make money for them in the coming months. Some agencies will produce this book for them on a contingency basis where the work will be deducted once the person starts to earn some money and this is probably the best path to go down. It shows that the agency is serious about the person and that they really do think that money can be made. There are the unscrupulous agencies which are just a front for charging fees to individuals who stand no chance of making a living and it is these which must be avoided at all costs. They really do not care if the person is earning since they have already made money up front. Only those who are owed money will look for a job or two for their client so this is a rather obvious ploy. What novices should not do is to pose in any way which makes them uncomfortable or which goes against their beliefs. Lurid photographs may be suggested, but these often come back to haunt the person if they ever become famous in the future.
