How To Live Anywhere In The World

It is the dream of many people to relocate to a foreign country or to find a quiet island and retire in solitude. You may be perfectly happy living where you are currently living, but with an unlimited budget, you may choose a destination that is more exotic, less taxed, seasonally pleasant or away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Unfortunately, money does not grow on trees and people are stuck living near their job or in an area that is affordable. However, if you are willing to use some creativity and exercise a bit of your adventurous side, you may be able to make a life elsewhere in a more fantastic location. First, consider your housing style. If you are willing to downgrade to something smaller like a custom modular home, you may be able to change your location. A custom modular may not be as fancy as your current home, but if you can improve your quality of life, it may well be worth it to live in a smaller house.

Instead of buying a house, consider renting. This may seem like a foreign idea to you and something only college kids and young singles do, but the truth is, a lot of couples decide to rent once they retire and age because there is less home maintenance to worry about. You lose some tax benefits, but if you have an ideal location outside of the United States to live, there may not be any tax benefits to owning anyway. Some countries do not even allow non-citizens to own property, so depending on where you want to live, you may not have a choice in the issue.

If you do not plan to retire just yet, but relocating is still a dream, consider looking in a location of your choosing for a job that provides accommodations. There are a lot of career opportunities around the world for nannies, housekeepers, building managers and maintenance personnel that offer the opportunity to live on-site as part of your salary. While the work may not be your dream job, if you can live in your dream destination for little to no cost, it may be worth working in a job you would not otherwise consider.

Those who are willing can take on roommates to share living accommodations and costs. This may not work for couples and families, but if you are single and looking to build a new life in a new location, a roommate be just the solution. In some cases, if you purchase property large enough, you could take on a renter that is living somewhat separately from you and your family, but still contributing to the cost of living.

If you are new to an area, you may not be ready to find a living space and search for a roommate. If this is the case, consider being the roommate yourself. There are plenty of reputable websites that connect renters and homeowners with people looking for a roommate. Carefully choose your living situation and you may end up making a new friend in your new home.
