Giving Your Child A Gift They Will Cherish Forever

Shopping for your kids is usually easy, but you may be discouraged by how quickly they lose interest in new toys and gifts. Adults who look back over their childhood may only remember a few of the gifts they were given as stand-outs. There may be one Christmas where exactly what they wanted was under the tree or one birthday where they waited months to get what they were hoping for. Many of the other holidays and gifts blend together and while they may remember being happy and blessed, no specific gift stands out. If this is a year when you want to give your child a gift that really becomes a memory, there are some surefire things to buy that will make an impression? Memorabilia is an example of this. Kids who are fans of a player or team will love memorabilia, which is something they can hold onto for the rest of their lives. Football cards and sports cards may even increase in value and help the child understand the value of collecting.

The joy of holding onto a gift and passing it along to someone else may not thrill a kid so much immediately, but once they are adults they will appreciate your planning and foresight. Having something that was special to them that can then be special to their child is a great way to remember the best memories of their childhood. It can be tough finding something that will transcend the changing times and trends in children's toys, so go for classic items. Things that are typically collected may be the best route. While your child may be disappointed they cannot include the gift in their usual collection of toys, they will grow to treasure the item in time.

Books are one of the greatest gifts a child can receive. While they do not allow a child the no-holds-barred wild play of other toys and games, they give you something the two of you can do together. Instilling a love of reading in a child is one of the greatest gifts you can possibly give them. Many adults who enjoy reading look back on their childhoods and remember what a delight it was to share a book with their parents or discover a whole new world within the page so of a new book on their own.

Lessons to learn something new may not be the first thing on a child's gift list, but it is something they will grow to appreciate. Learning a skill that will last a lifetime will leave a child looking back on the gift with appreciation. As your child grows into an adult and still enjoys piano playing, horseback riding or creating art, they will fondly remember the initial gift of the lessons.

Finally, a great gift you can share together is travel. If you and your child are both adventurous, book a trip together and explore a new area. This gives you time to connect with one another and an experience you will never forget.
