Body image is an issue for a lot of girls all over the word, and how to deal with it is the biggest question. There are many places the issue stems from, and many people have tried to convey it before. From the skinny perfect images of women projected on store bags and to go bags and magazines to the newest health craze. If you know someone who deals with this here is an inside look on this issue. The mirror awaits every woman. Every girl must face it; some with the power, or the luck, to be unnerved. Others will falter under its presence. To be annoyed by what she sees in the mirror is one thing, but there are those who cannot escape its grasp. It follows her everywhere, as a constant gnawing on their worth, their strength and sanity. The mirror penetrates their world. Everything becomes a mirror. Another woman reflects what she sees in the mirror, or what she does not see, or what she wishes she could see. Food reflects the woman she sees in the mirror. A family reflects what she sees in the mirror, a woman who will never be like those people, a woman who can never be normal. The mirror is uncontrollable. She cannot change physics but she can change the physical. To alter the mirror, she has to alter herself. She can re-transform the world if she can re-transform what is in the mirror. She becomes obsessed. Her world is the mirror, so her world is now fixing the mirror. There is nothing else in life but that mirror. There are a lot of examples of girls like this in literature and things. Some may view her as psychotic or drastic, but she is just like the other women who were not built to stand against the mirror's power. She was not out of line when she chopped of her body parts she was not trying to kill herself; she was not suffering from a mental disorder. She was simply trying to gain control as many of us do. There is no sense or sensibility when trying to gain control, for there is no sense or sensibility in being out of control. This poem is a beautiful depiction of a struggle that envelops certain individuals' lives but society finds hard to understand. This is a classic example of the world of someone with body issue. Some people deal with it personally, while some may reach out to a therapist or friend. You need to be sure before you try to help someone with an issue like this. You need to consult a doctor or expert before you move ahead with anything of the sort. However, if you are worried a friend may need your help, try to do so. Food obsessions and eating disorders are dangerous but are a big part of modern-day society. Your family and friends need your help if they are dealing with such an issue but you need to do it in a safe and secure manner.
