Bulk Goods Need Specialized Handling Facilities

Many companies will certainly need to bring in bulk orders into the country from time to time. Or they may want to take advantage of the economies of scale when it comes to unit price. Whatever the reason, to take advantage of this offer, they must have somewhere to store the goods when they come in. Very often the cartons may contain too many of each individual product so they will have to be stripped down and repacked too. Companies which do not have this kind of facility have often found themselves at a great disadvantage but this is where the third-party company comes into its own. Public warehouse facilities or fulfillment companies are well placed to undertake this work at a great price.

Indeed, many of these companies have other services on offer too. One being that they can have cartons and boxes printed up to the specifications of the importer. This can brand the goods under his name and allow him to advertise only his name and not the name of the foreign company. This makes it easier for the customer to associate the goods only with him and not with where the goods came from which should lead to further orders at some time or another.

But what some companies deal with is fresh produce. This is rather a volatile and tricky commodity, depending on what it is, since it could probably go bad very quickly if not handled in the correct fashion. Fresh vegetables or meats can often get contaminated from the drips and juices of other materials so the company handling them must really know what they are doing.

Cold storage is also on offer at some facilities and this allows for the foods to be repacked in smaller quantities. Once this is done, in chilled rooms of course, the goods can then be sent to holding areas around the country for selling to restaurant chains or supermarkets everywhere. Since the originating company has only to source and purchase the goods, these extra services are often taken on by the other facilities on a regular basis making a complete chain from farm to plate. Once the operation is set in motion, the goods should arrive onto the plate in perfect condition.

Seafood and poultry boxes are specially made to contain all drips from the contents. If they are not of sufficient quality, the effect of cross contamination can be devastating to both the consumer and to the reputation of the selling company. Some few years ago salmonella, a severe form of food poisoning, broke out countrywide and people got so sick that many died from this. Even eggs were contaminated too and for a long time people stayed away from these products. However, with the improved facilities, as described herein, the public has become more confident in the suppliers now and there are very few cases reported on an annual basis. Not only is this good for the suppliers, it is good for the consumer too.
