Revealing the Secrets Of Great Masters Of Self Defense

By : William Gabriel

Believe it or not, self defense tactics are some of the most important things that you can ever learn in your lifetime. Several philosophers and scientists have asserted that physical safety - the impulse to keep ourselves from harm - is a natural instinct that we all possess but don't necessarily have the natural ability to do.

No matter where you live or work, you know that there are unscrupulous characters about. Every single time you turn on the television to watch the news you will see that there are people getting mugged, raped and killed each day. Nobody really wants to be the next victim to be talked about. Learning self defense is indeed a necessity in the world we live in today. Here are some tips gained from self defense masters.

Run

This is the best self defense tactic. If you feel that something is not right about the situation you are in (and really observant people do get this intuition all the time), get out of it. Call for help immediately. You aren't a super hero and you know nothing about your would-be-assailant. Be on the safe side and run for your life.

Self Defense is all about Ending Violence

If you know a little bit about self defense, you have to realize that this is a tool not to be used to inflict pain on other people. Should an attacker get too close to you or grab you, that is, there are effective self defense tactics that will stop them from harming you without causing them great injury.

Fear Will Prevent You from Acting

You need to be confident. When you are walking down a dark alley, don't give the impression that you are a damsel in distress. This may only heighten a criminal's conviction to victimize you. Remember, these people prey on those who are weaker than they are. Should you come under attack, don't panic. This will prevent you from acting against your attackers.

Use Your Head then Your Body

If you follow the third tip, you will be able to do this also. Think. You need to be quick about your decisions so that you can act also. If you have a weapon, take it out immediately. If you don't have one, be resourceful.

Anything around you may prove to be an effective self defense weapon. Even your own body can be a weapon of mass destruction as long as you use your head and think about how to use it.

Learn the Basics

You will be more self-assured if you have the rudiments of self defense. If you have time to enroll yourself in classes after school or work, do so. If you don't have enough cash for this, look for an effective at-home program. There are reputable home programs which show re-enactments of self defense tactics and strategies. You can easily order books and DVDs authored by experts and masters in the field.

Anything can happen in our world. Safety is an important aspect of a long and happy life. These tips can help, true, but you will also need to help yourself by learning the tactics that will keep you safe.
