Store Jewelry At Home For Safekeeping

When you go out to the store and purchase jewelry, you never really think about how you're going to store it when you get home. At the moment, your issue is with deciding whether spending that kind of money on the piece is worth it or not. When the decision is made to buy the piece, it almost never occurs to the buyer to buy a storage case or box.

I have had many friends tell me stories of how their jewelry has been ruined because their pieces were stored improperly. Jewelry needs adequate room and space when not used. If they are all bunched up, they will only end up scratching against each other and perhaps even leaving marks and scrapes. The best way to keep your expensive jewelry looking great is to properly storage them.

You will need to keep several things in mind when you are trying to find a good storage space for jewelry. It needs to be confined, but it also needs a lot of space to keep it safe. Do not store it where it is exposed to water or humidity, since this can cause it to tarnish and rust. Consider these few ideas while storing jewelry at home.

You can always go out and buy a jewelry organizer or you can make something yourself by using found items in your home. I do this myself for some of my jewelry. You have to find the right size container or box that provides lots of room for each jewelry piece.

Choose a good container with many small compartments. You can separate the pieces and never have to worry about scratches and chips. However, jewelry is fragile and you will need to properly care for it and store it safely when you want it to last you for years to come.

I have seen some fantastic jewelry boxes that were crafted out of household items. My friends have made it a hobby to create jewelry boxes. They simply find something around the house, and then customize the box to their liking. This could mean adding fixtures to the box to make it look a bit more appealing.

If you have a lot of jewelry pieces, then perhaps creating your own storage location is not a good idea. You may have to look around for something vast enough to hold it all. This doesn't mean can't be creative and put your jewelry in an attractive jewelry case. Find one that compliments your jewelry. For example, I have a huge collection of jewelry charms for my various charm bracelets. Because the charms I own are mostly gold, I had to stick with a gold jewelry box to follow the theme.

When you understand the importance of why and how to store jewelry at home for safekeeping you will be able to give it proper care. Properly cleaning jewelry is essential too, so make sure you clean them regularly. If you give your jewelry the proper attention it deserves you will be able to preserve its beauty for many years.
