3 Ways Teachers Can Organize for the New Year

In just a few weeks, the second half of the school year will be getting underway. That makes this the ideal time for teachers to take a step back and analyze how their classroom is running. For the most part, classroom routines should be well in place and students should know exactly what is expected of them. The new semester may not be a time of great change; however, sometimes it's the little changes that make a big difference in the classroom running more smoothly.

ID badge holders are a great way for teachers and their students to add convenience to the day. For the teacher who carries an electronic key to gain access to secured areas of campus, ID badge holders with retractable reels allow for hands free organization of this item. Organizing small items such as ID badges or classroom keys is an easy way to help the days go more smoothly. But because badges and keys are such small items, they are easily overlooked when it comes to adding more organization to the classroom.

Using ID badge holders is great for organizing, and can also be a great way to enhance a teacher's appearance in the classroom. Typically, keys and badges are worn in a style-less sort of way. But now, there is a way to look and feel better thanks to BooJee Beads decorative pieces. This easy to use website offers a wide array of lanyards and badge reels for every situation. When you're ready to add some fashionable function to the way you carry keys and identification, consider BooJee Beads lanyards and badge clips to show off your personal style.

Throwing out items that are not used very often is a way to add space for new and improved items. It can be tempting to hold on to that lesson plan about the migration of the Monarch Butterfly; but if it hasn't been taught in the past two years, then it's time to throw it out. A good way to think of it is "out with the old, in with the new". Emptying drawers and files of unnecessary items frees up more than physical space; it also frees the teacher up mentally to move on in search of new teaching materials that are relevant to the twenty-first century classroom.

Lastly, technology may help teachers gain more organization as they set out to finish out the school year strong. There is no concrete rule that states you must open the doors to a course website at the beginning of the school year. If you the teacher can handle this change of pace mid-year, students most certainly can. Today's student is more tech savvy to begin with, so integrating technology that lists assignments, grades and encourages interaction between teacher, students and parents pays off for everyone.

An organized classroom is a teacher's dream. When there is a place for everything and everything is in its place, teachers can teach and students can focus on carrying on the business of learning.
