Selling digital information products was the suggested way to make money when I first started in affiliate marketing several years ago. However, today more affiliate marketers are moving towards selling physical products for several reasons. In this article let's go over a few of the positives of selling physical affiliate products versus digital information. 1. People naturally go online and buy things today. You can see this because on Black Monday a couple of weeks ago over $1 billion in online purchases were made in 1 day. The largest online retailer for physical products continues to be Amazon.com. However, it is interesting to note that they have reported digital ebook sales now outsell hard copy books, so there certainly is a market for that. 2. You can focus on a specific product with a physical product. I know Internet marketers who will build many websites based on a product model number. Others will build pre-sale page targeting a specific niche. For example, they might build a niche web page on focusing on lipstick, instead of building a broad theme website on makeup. 3. The affiliate merchant still takes care of everything for you. I really like this advantage because you do not have to worry about collecting any money or shipping the product to the customer. Most affiliate merchants now pay fairly quickly so you do not have to wait for your commissions regardless of whether you are selling physical or digital products. 4. You have an unlimited opportunity. When you think about promoting physical products in a targeted niche the possibilities are endless. I recently read about one Internet marketer who had 84 websites just on Halloween costumes. Although this is a limited theme in terms of its popularity he reported making enough money during the Halloween season to make it worth his while for the whole year. 5. One advantage of digital information is instant access. This is always been a primary benefit when it comes to selling an info product. When a customer is excited about a specific product it's much easier to close a sale if you can provide the product for them instantly. 6. You can create your own digital information products. Selling information in the form of ebooks, PDF reports, articles, and even membership sites, is something all of us can do. We will probably never create a physical product and sell it online. Although there are online marketers who have made a lot of money by creating physical products making CDs out of digital information. So what should you sell? You may want to consider doing a combination of both. Right now more Internet marketers are leaning towards increasing the number of websites they build and making a little less money on each one. This strategy is easy to do both with physical products and info products. However, depending on the niche you are targeting you may find physical products are easier to come up with affiliate programs for then digital information is.
