You Can Clean Silver Jewelry In 5 Easy Steps

If you are like many other people, you may buy jewelry and never consider where you will store jewelry at home. While shopping you will be concentrating on the worth of the jewelry piece you are considering. It may not occur to you that you need a proper storage area for jewelry until much later when you are at home.

There are no miracle tips on how to clean jewelry. It simply takes some solution and a cloth. For the cloth, it's important that you use 100% cotton or a flannel cloth. You definitely do not want to use anything rough that may scratch the piece. Most silver will hold an excess of makeup, dirt, soap scum, body oils, and dead skin. You can gently maneuver the cloth to wipe any of this off.

As for the solution, I recommend you go out and find special jewelry cleaner. Water will not do the trick. Dishwashing soap is a popular alternative, but not a very good one. It could cause adverse effects on the piece! Make sure you pick something that is designed to clean jewelry. You may want to use cheaper household alternatives, but nothing measures up to damaging the value of your jewelry!

Rather than go out to buy a special jewelry box, I want something that can store my jewelry on top of my dresser. I made my own by using a clean dry box to organize my jewelry. You can determine a suitable box by knowing how many pieces you have.

You want a good container that features lots of small compartments. When you separate your jewelry pieces you can avoid damage to your fragile and expensive jewelry. It needs proper care that only you can give to it. The only way to make jewelry last forever is to properly store it at home.

Crafting jewelry boxes from simple household items is quite creative. Some people even turn it into a hobby by making jewelry boxes from found items around the house. They customize the box to suit their needs by adding various decorative items to the box.

However, if you have an extensive collection of jewelry, making your own jewelry organizer may not be the best solution. Find something that is big enough to hold all your jewelry by choosing an attractive jewelry case. Find something that compliments your collection. For instance, I have a very large collection of charms and charm bracelets. Most of them are gold, so I use a gold jewelry case to keep with the theme.

When you understand the importance of why and how to store jewelry at home for safekeeping you will be able to give it proper care. Properly cleaning jewelry is essential too, so make sure you clean them regularly. If you give your jewelry the proper attention it deserves you will be able to preserve its beauty for many years.
