Thigh High Boots as The Perfect Footwear for Winter Months

By : Jamie Simpson

The boot just keeps on going and going on up the leg. Such high boots as these have been worn by both men and women through the years of history. In more recent times, thigh high boots have often been seen as sexy wear for those who are in the sex industry, but these boots can be stylish, trendy and practical as the perfect footwear for the winter months. Why shouldn't any woman on winter days be able to take advantage of extra warmth all the way up to the thighs?

Now, not all of these boots are made the same. Not all of the thigh high boots are high heeled, even though many are. Some even have fancy detailing on heel. There are thick, platform soles. Still, there are the comfortable low-heeled riders that are thigh highs. Some of these extended boots can be cuffed below the knee like the pirates used to do with theirs, or worn straight on up to the thighs. There are western styled high tops of leathers and suede, as well as European fashion looks. Some are pull-on and others are built for more ease with zippers on the inner side. Crafted from leather, faux leather, vinyl, latex and polyurethane and lined with silks, satins, and polyester microfibers, these thigh high boots have varied prices and are excellent for winter footwear.

Another name for these is "over-the-knee" boots. They give added heat to the knee area, and still look good with a number of different outfits. These boots are trendy with a mini or short skirt. Also, they are definitely perfect for wearing under a longer dress or skirt on those cold winter days. These thigh high boots can also be worn with tight jeans or pants. This look is fabulous when worn with the fashionable tunic tops and peasant blouses.

This year there have been a few fashion designers and fashion houses who have been promoting thigh high boots. Christian Dior, Burberry Prorsum and Hermes have all prominently featured their version in their fall lines, but 2009 was a very big year for this footwear. Prada, Alexander McQueen, Celine, Gucci and many more offered one or more of these boots. Fashion designers, boutiques, fashion houses, etc., are sure to provide at least one pair each autumn.

So there are some choices from which to select just the right pair or pairs to add to the personal wardrobe. The boots are practical as well as fashion statements. When worn tastefully, they can be wonderful warm accessories for winter wear. Several different outfits are certainly enhanced by wearing these thigh high boots. Women should feel free to purchase one or two to spice up and warm up their winter wardrobes this year.
