What Makes a Good Womens Boot

What determines whether or not a boot is good depends on the situation or occasion for which the boot will be worn, as well as personal preference. Many women opt to have a selection of different boots that will be suitable for various purposes. The best way to build an extensive boot wardrobe on a budget is to purchase a different type each season. That way, you will be prepared for any circumstance that may arise.

For extreme cold, wet and snow, it is imperative that the boot be insulated or lined with fleece, sheepskin or fur for warmth, waterproof or water resistant to keep the moisture out, and tall enough to trudge through deep piles of snow. They should extend above the hem in order to be able to tuck your pants inside the boots so that the pant legs stay dry and snow stays out of the boots. A rubber sole will keep the elements out and provide traction for walking on icy sidewalks.

Avid walkers and hikers also have special needs when it comes to boots. Comfort is very important, otherwise the hiker may experience foot pain, callouses or other problems, making the hike miserable instead of enjoyable and healthy. They also need to be lightweight, so you can walk or hike for long periods of time. For those very hot summer days, ventilation is key to keeping your feet from getting sweaty and producing moisture. Being water resistant or waterproof are additional benefits that you will appreciate if you encounter mud puddles, need to cut across a stream or if it begins to rain. The sole needs to have first-rate traction for walking on rugged terrain, muddy trails and slippery rocks. Hiking boots should provide ankle support without being too tight or too stiff.

Boots such as the ugg boot, which have a sheepskin exterior and a fur-lined interior, are extremely popular due to their comfort and warmth. The main purpose of these boots is coziness, similar to a pair of slippers. While they can be worn outside, they should not be worn in muddy or wet conditions. They have a tall upper that can be folded down, a reinforced flat heel and raw seems.

When boots are worn simply for the sake of fashion or appearance, the most important feature is that they are stylish and attractive. Comfort may not even be an issue for some women who are willing to endure some discomfort in exchange for looking chic. However, there are many fashionable boots that are also comfortable. They can be tall, mid-calf or short, as well as heeled or flat. A flat heel will appear more rugged and casual, while a tall heel will appear sexy and more formal. Often, fashion boots do not provide adequate protection from the elements and can quickly get damaged in foul weather, not to mention your feet can get very cold. Therefore, they should only be worn for short jaunts from the car to the indoors.
