Important Things To Consider When Buying Bed Frames

Choosing a bed frame can be an important step when you set up your bedroom furniture. Bed frames come in a wide variety of metal and wooden options that are designed to be visible or remain hidden and simply support your mattress set. To get a bed frame that is right for you, consider whether you will see it once your bed is made, whether you need to move the bed on a regular basis, and how much weight the frame will need to support. With these concerns addressed, finding a bed frame that will help your bed look good in your room while retaining the function that you need becomes a much simpler process.

Will You See Your Bed Frame?

Bed frames come in a wide variety of aesthetic options. Some of the simplest bed frames are designed to simply hold up a mattress without being seen. If you plan on using a standard double mattress configuration for your bed, the bed skirt covering the lower mattress will probably hide the bed frame from view. For this bedroom furniture setup, it doesn't necessarily matter whether the bed frame you purchase is visually appealing since it won't generally be visible.

Some bed frames are designed to be seen. For people using a bed frame that is designed to match a headboard and be visible, choosing something based on aesthetic appearance makes more sense. For a bed frame designed for a single mattress that will not use a bed skirt, it is important to choose something that will look nice with the rest of your bedroom furniture.

How Mobile Do You Need It To Be?

Casters and wheels are available for both metal and wooden bed frames, though they are more prevalent in metal frames designed to be hidden under a mattress skirt. If you want your bed to have the option of moving easily when you rearrange furniture or clean, choosing a bed frame made with casters can make the bed moving process much simpler. Consider the size of your room and the rest of your bedroom furniture when thinking about whether or not your bed needs to move. If space in your room is tight, it may not make sense to worry that much about whether or not you can move your bed.

How Much Weight Will Your Bed Frame Support?

Bed frames can be designed to handle different weight loads, and choosing the right option for your bed is important. If your mattress is king size, unusually heavy, or stuffed exceptionally high it may make sense to choose a reinforced metal frame or a wooden frame for your bed to make sure the frame isn't damaged over time. You and your partner's weight and height should come into play as well when choosing bed frame sizes. Any bed frame you choose should have a maximum safe weight listed.
