5 Tips To Improve The Safety Of Your Home

Your home should be beautiful as it should be safe. Do you know how to ensure that your home stays safe and beautiful at the same time? When asked in a survey, the top most observation was that the home should be lighted enough at night preferably with a battery picture light placed at critical places such as corridors, bathrooms, kitchen, and even living rooms. When asked why battery picture lights people said that this is because this light would not be affected if anyone interfered with the main supply of electricity. It makes sense.

Here are a few more simple yet effective ways to ensure your home stays safe and beautiful at the same time:

1. Install barred frames on windows and doors -- while most people love to keep their windows open and welcome the fresh air especially at night -- this is the easiest way for a burglar or a psycho to get in. What could be more tempting than an open window to a deranged mind? Have a frame that has bars on it which you can lock in when you keep your windows open. This will ensure that you can have your fresh air while you would keep at bay any unauthorized entry. You could paint these bars in any color you want -- complementing or contrasting with your home.

2. Have cordless and cellular phones placed in strategic places -- just imagine that someone has entered your home and is terrorizing you. The first thing you would want to do is call 911. This is what the burglar will know too and hence, he would cut the wires of your phone. For your safety ensure that you have cordless and cell phones placed at strategic places where you can reach without difficulty in times of need and call for help.

3. Keep valuable in a hidden safe -- most burglars force the owners of the house to open the safes they have in their house to rob them. They cannot do this if the safe is hidden from view, can they? Ensure that you keep your valuables in a place where it is not visible to an outsider. You could hide your safe behind an aquarium, a picture, a sofa set or wardrobe -- you can choose any place, the only criteria should be that it is not immediately visible to anyone who walks in your home.

4. Keep a large dog -- if the space permits and you love animals why not adopt a dog from the animal shelter? In this way you will save an animal and you will gain a guardian. What can be more beautifying in your home than a loving pet? A large or even a small dog would do to discourage burglars with their size and bark.

5. Install burglar and fire alarms in your home -- burglars are intimidated by noise so if you have active and effective burglar alarms installed in your home, you would have increased the safety index of your home by at least 50%. Fire alarms too would ensure that your home is safer.
