Why Ricky Bobby Would Wear Bulova Luxury Watches

It was the immortal Ricky Bobby who made famous the saying: "If you're not first, you're last," a slogan that meant if you weren't in first place, or the first to do something, than what was the point at all?

Ok, so there is no REAL Ricky Bobby. He was a fictional character from the 2006 comedy movie "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" played by comedian Will Ferrell. But if the Ballad of Ricky Bobby were a true story, and Will Ferrell's hilarious character were an actual in-the-flesh human being, I can already tell you what kind of luxury watches he would wear:

Bulova.

Ricky Bobby wouldn't wear Longines watches, he wouldn't wear Raymond Weil watches, and he wouldn't wear Philip Stein watches. No, Ricky Bobby would exclusively wear Bulova Luxury Watches, strictly because they are the ideal representation of his favorite slogan. There are no other luxury watches in the world that have followed the slogan "If you're not first, you're last" most accurately than the Bulova Wrist Watch company.

Because, quite simply, they always come in first.

Go back to 1912. I'm sure you all remember it well. Bulova became the first watch company to build a working plant solely dedicated to the art of watchmaking.

Seven years later, in 1919, Bulova came in first again. It was around this time that the pocket watches popularity was falling to the attractiveness of the wrist watch, and to lead the way in this new trend (that still lasts to this day), Bulova became the first company to have a full line of jeweled men's wrist watches.

There was also 1924, when Bulova became the first makers of luxury watches to create a line of designer timepieces exclusively for women.

But it wasn't just in the watch line introduction that Bulova always came first. They have historically been coming in first with advertisements as well. In 1926 Bulova had the first ever advertisement over American radio. They weren't just the first watch company to do this, they were the first company PERIOD.

And in 1941 they became the first company… again, not watch company, just company… to broadcast an advertisement on television. The ad was a 15-second clip that played during a break in action of a baseball game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Brooklyn Dodgers.

We could go on and on about the many instances in which Bulova has come in first, either with innovative new technologies, setting new trends, releasing new watch lines, or creating new ways to advertise. The truth is, it's rather remarkable the record that the Bulova watch company has with coming in first.

And it would make Ricky Bobby proud.
