Monetizing your blog or website has never been easier than it is today. Most of us know we can monetize our website with ad sense, but there are other more lucrative ways to earn money from your blog.

If you have a popular website that attracts a lot of visitors, why not try selling some banner advertising. This is quite popular, and you can get some good revenue out of this. You can cut out the middle man and determine your own rates. The only drawback here is that you will need to have a popular website and you will need monitor all the sales yourself.

If you don't want to find advertisers yourself, there are some networks that you can sign up with for placement of ads. These normally work by paying you per impression, so will work better if you have a page that gets a lot of views. A few of these networks include Burst Media, Value Click, Advertising.com, and Casale Media. With these networks you should get anywhere between $9.10 and $10 per 1000 impressions.

A great way to monetize your website is by selling affiliate products. In this way you promote a product and supply the link to the website, and if your prospect buys something, you will get a commission. This is an easy way to earn money, as you don't have to worry about shipping or a merchant account. Lots of company's have affiliate programs that you can join, and if you want to promote a variety of products, try Clickbank or Commision Junction.

Another great trend is to use widgets to monetize your website. This has become very popular over the last year or so. You can place widgets in your side bar promoting the latest products and there are many different networks that you can try. These are some of the companies that supply monetized widgets: WidgetBucks, SmartLinks and ScratchBack.

Try writing a sponsored review on a product. There are companies who pay you to write a review for your blog, but in most cases your blog will need to be reviewed by the companies that you join up with. Companies who offer this are: Pay Per Post, Sponsored Reviews, Smorty and BlogVertise.

In-text linking is another great way to monetize your blog. Skadoogle offers a great service free of charge for you to monetize your blog or website.

If all else fails, and you feel that your site is delivering truly valuable content for its readers, then put a 'donate' link or button on your site, and people can donate a small amount for your efforts. This method seems to work well for a lot of bloggers who have a fair amount of traffic to their blog.
