Are you having a hard time finding great gift ideas for everyone on your gift giving lists? Do you find it challenging to be a great gift giver? Do you wander around for days thinking about what to get and then not taking action until the last minute? Waiting until the last minute produces pitiful choices for gifts. I know, I am guilty of waiting until the last minute to go shopping too, but I wanted to overcome my feelings or being a bad gift giver this year. The original goal was simple. I was to look for a gift for a friend of mine. I always feel that a gift I find would have to be something that will show I care. However, my first mistake was waiting till the last moment to do this. With so many people that you have to find gifts for, it's understandable that you may lose track of priorities. In all honesty, my friend was not at the top of my list. With only a week left till Christmas, I went to the store to blindly find something. I really had no plan, only to pick out the first thing I saw that was suitable. On that day, my eyes landed on a coffee maker. At the time, I was not even sure if my friend drank coffee or not. However, I decided that it would work, so I picked it up. It was not long at all that Christmas was there and I was becoming a bit nervous about the gift I chose. The feeling of having no confidence in your gift ideas are pure torture. I watched as she un-wrapped my gift and then a look of confusion crossed her face. It was then I realized that I had given her the exact same coffeemaker as the one sitting in her kitchen. I won't go into what happened next, but it wasn't good. The moral of the story is that you should always try to find a one-of-a-kind gift. Avoiding that embarrassment is easy enough, if you take the time to pick out a good gift. If you know what you are doing you can make gift giving so much easier. To find the best gift you have to know the person you are holiday shopping for and then choose something that is suitable especially for him or her. Your goal is to choose unique gifts. Choosing things they already own and use or things that others may give to them are not the best gift ideas. You can avoid this problem by picking out something that is beyond what they will expect. This year, I decided on a charm bracelet as a holiday gift. The thing about charm bracelets is that it is entirely customizable. I added my own taste to the gift to personalize it. This way, she will receive something that is solely from me. No one will be able to replicate the gift, not ever her. That should be the point when you are looking for a gift. Learning how to find a unique gift for the holidays is not so hard when you take time to do some careful planning. Great gift ideas are not going to jump in the buggy while you walk down the aisles of a store as a last minute shopper. You want to choose unique gifts that say a great deal about the way you feel for the person you are giving the gift to. Reduce the stress and avoid embarrassment by doing your holiday shopping as soon as possible and then you can simply enjoy the holidays with family and friends.
