The use of pesticides around campsites is not much recommended. Unless you have a permanent solution to repel mosquitoes, avoid going for camping. An excellent way to take control is by using homemade recipes. You can easily take them along in your recyclable bags or reusable bags to any camping site. Made out of household products and natural oils, they are bound to be safe. The best part is they are friendly to your skin and some of them can also be sprayed on family pets. Most famous common remedy for the purpose is Listerine. A combination of Eucalyptus oil and menthol effectively keeps insects at bay. This only asks for pouring a diluted mixture into spry bottles, and you can take them along on hiking. If your campsite has grass and shrubs then a mixture of beer and baby shampoo will make a good remedy. Just take a hose-end container and fill with two parts of baby shampoo and three parts of beer and connect this hose to a nearby spigot. In the place where it rains, mosquitoes will not approach. Another helpful campground trick is to add a thin layer of water on a white plate and add a few drops of lemon dishwashing liquid. Place this plate from a distance where your table is present. This plate will draw mosquitoes and prevent them from bothering you. This was all about campground tips, but you can also make some effective mosquito repellents. The mixture includes natural ingredients that you can prepare at home or right at the campsite. For instance, you can cut a lemon and boil the juice at the campfire and then add the essential oils or crushed herbs. Add them when the mixture is cooling. Mixtures prepared in this way can be stored in bottles and taken along on trips. Before spraying or applying, shake the mixture well. Do it extensively especially when you are camp dining. These strained liquids can also be stored in spray bottles. You may want to spray them at least once an hour. Another mosquito repellent recipe comprises of 5ml lemon grass oil and 10ml eucalyptus oil in which you can add 80ml water. You can safely spray the repellent on your body or other items present within your tent. Plants are also known to repel mosquitoes naturally. In case you are camping somewhere close to your house and if it is feasible, plant the camping area with such plants. Rosemary, marigold, lemongrass and many other are famous for their action of repelling insects. In many cases, pesticides are your first choice to keep mosquitoes away. However, the above mentioned repellents are also quite effective under the usual outdoor conditions. Their effect lasts for around one to six hours depending upon humidity saturation in air. The nice smelling mist on your skin and around campsite is amazing and when it is repelling mosquitoes than it is another plus. Natural homemade repellents are effective on almost every mosquito however, in some tougher conditions, they can outlive.
