When you think of Olympic Sports you are going to think of a few weeks of games of competition from all over the world. There are a mixture of winter sports and summer sports that make up the games so there is something for everyone to love and watch. If you do not know anything about the games or how the competition is created, than you should know that there are sports and disciplines in the sports. This is how you will be able to keep track of the amount of games and sub games that there are going to be.

For example, there are many different sports that are going to be played during the games. They are split up between games that are held in the summer and games that are held during the winter months. A better way to understand is that there is the swimming competition as a game but the disciplines are going to be swimming, diving, synchronized swimming and water polo. Just as skating is a game with figure skating, speed skating and short track speed skating as disciplines. This is how the Olympic Sports keeps things separated for the scoring.

As far as how the medals are given out it is by per event. This means that each discipline is going to receive an award based on first, second and third place. There is a bronze, silver and gold medal that is given to each of the winners in each discipline. Of course, in the Olympic Sports everyone is going for the gold. Everyone gets a chance to win the medal and the best of the best are going to walk away with the winning medals. They are playing for their countries and their teams.

On occasion, certain games are taken out of the competition for one reason or another. For example, polo and tug of war used to be part of the games but were discontinued. But, it is possible for a game to be dropped from the Olympic Sports such as tennis but years down the road to be added back into the lineup once again. There are different reasons for a game to drop out such as lack of interest and then be added back in because it had once again become something that the public wanted to see and there were players to play.

As you can see, there are many different aspects when it comes to the Olympic Sports and there is something for everyone even if you are not a sports fan. It is a very exciting time for those that look forward to the games including fans and competitors alike. You will have a chance to see how things are done in other parts of the world and be able to join in on the fun from the comfort of your living room. There is a lot of excitement with all of the competition that is going on and you should experience it just once for yourself.
