Would you believe it! It is Christmas again! Didn't we just have Christmas? So, here we go again making a list and then wracking our brains thinking of everyone on that long long list. Money is tighter this year... Nevertheless gifts must be delightfully acceptable, modestly priced but interesting, and though less expensive not shouting CHEAP. On every list there is bound to be several ladies who have everything. Slippers, perfumes, fancy soaps, etc, they have them. On the same list there are men that own shaving gear, lotions, T-shirts- flashlights, pens etc. So what does that leave? Chocolates are out these days. Chocolates used to say LOVE but now they say FAT. For such folks how about wine? Wine comes in a variety of fancy bottles and a range of prices tailored to every budget. Wine red or white says LOVE. Wine says ROMANCE. Wine even says HEALTH BENEFITS. Make it say MERRY CHRISTMAS by accompanying it with cheese. Hang a red mesh bag of miniature cheeses around its slender neck and tie with curly colored ribbons. The lucky recipient will get the MERRY CHRISTMAS MESSAGE and say HO HO HO! Other difficult to buy for clan members on our list are bound to be delighted with CD discs packed with nostalgic family pictures from way, way back right up until the present time. Give them an invitation to reminisce. Scrounge the family albums for photos depicting precious moments caught on camera dating back to the days of black and white and earlier right up to the present time and assemble them on discs. Scan them into the computer. Arrange them in approximate numeric order. Type in captions with dates here and there where possible. Example : HAROLD AND MARGIE'S WEDDING 1965. Or JENNIFER AT 18 MONTHS 1973. BRUCE PLAYING SOCCER 2001. GRANDDAD AT THE WHEEL OF HIS STRATO CHIEF 1957. GREAT GRANDDAD'S MODEL T sometime in the 1920s. This is a gift that will last. It will trigger nostalgic recall and revive long lost memories. It will elicit excited enjoyment as long forgotten events become alive once more. The sharing of such recollections will provide pleasure for a long time. The actual cost of this gift in money is minimal. The enjoyment derived from it however is incalculable and priceless. This gift will be appreciated long after Christmas and probably treasured for many years to come. The disc could become a cherished family heirloom to be handed down and down. There is a bit of work involved but it won't include fighting crowds in busy stores, hunting for parking spots or struggling with unfavorable weather conditions. It won't involve playing phone tag as you attempt to order goods for delivery. It won't involve anxious waiting for something to arrive on time. You only need to do it once to accommodate many people. Make the disc and then copy it as many times as necessary. Tuck the discs into labeled plastic jewel cases. Then all you need do is place them wrapped in colorful paper adorned with a bow under the tree. It is a gift of time and patience which says I LOVE YOU ENOUGH TO DO THIS FOR YOU. Your crowd will appreciate your thoughtfulness. It is a present that says most sincerely MERRY CHRISTMAS
