Anyone who has ever lived in or visited the Big Apple knows how overwhelming it can be. It seems as if there is always something going on and always something to do. However, it can be easy to fall into a run if you live there permanently or you may just have a hard time choosing what to do if you are there for a visit or for vacation. While the options are limitless, there are some things that stand out among the others for what you should experience. Start with dance lessons. Taking dance lessons allows you to meet new people, get some exercise and really enjoy your time in the area. It can also lead to romance and you just may find yourself working your new skills into a night on the town. The Big Apple is known for its collection of gourmet restaurants, as well as its selection of less-than-gourmet dining options, so be sure to eat out as often as possible. A number of celebrity chefs have establishments in Gotham and there are innovative things happening in the restaurant world that all begin in this area. If you are on a tight budget, you can still experience dining out. Coney Island hot dogs, corned beef sandwiches and pizza are all staples for which the Big Apple is known. Be sure to experience the cuisine while you are in town. Broadway is one of the most popular destinations in the Big Apple, so before you arrive, be sure to plan on seeing a show. You may have to purchase your tickets in advance or you may be able to get a great deal by buying ahead of time. Research the show that interest you most and buy tickets based on seating and value. Remember there are some great off-Broadway shows too, which will save you a bundle and still give you the Big Apple theatre experience. A trip to the Big Apple would not be complete without a trip to at least one art gallery. The area is a hotbed for artists of all kinds and whenever there is a concentration of artists, there is bound to be places you can go to see displays of their work. If you are headed into town or you live there, check out the gallery openings that are in the near future. You can also check out tried and true favorites like the Met or the Museum of Modern Art. While the Big Apple may be viewed as a more cosmopolitan destination, there is still plenty of history to be had. For starters, there are history museums you can enjoy in town. You can also visit Ellis Island and learn the history of American immigrants. The Big Apple was the original United States Capital, a fact that not everyone is aware of. The buildings of the area are also historic, as the state was one of the original thirteen colonies. If you are a history fan, there is plenty you can find while visiting the Big Apple.
