Once upon a time the only learning aids for basketball were a ball and a hoop. Today you have much more and better stuff, you have basketball videos and you have simulation machines that coax the best basketball skills in you. There are many modern- day learning techniques that you could use to apply to your game. Talk to your coach about incorporating as many as is possible or if this is not possible, you should find a place where such learning aids are available.

There are many ways to learn and perfect your basketball game; here are some fast suggestions:

1. Practice away -- the best way is of course, playing. Keep practicing for as many hours as you can per day and use this practice lessons to learn something new every time you play. Do not dismiss this as impossible, for there are plenty of moves and styles that would teach you something or other about the game. Absorb as much as you can just as a sponge would.

2. Research about the styles of stalwarts of this game -- there are so many heroes of this game. Trace these people on the Net and watch their games. Such games would be your best ground for learning for you. Watching a champion play is always a revelation. Keep watching their games and find ways to incorporate some of their best talents into your own game.

3. Research about special techniques -- in most cases this is where you would need a good coach. However, even when you have a coach, you would do good to find search and watch videos on the game pertaining to specific techniques of defense, shooting of the ball and other important training techniques. The more you watch such videos the more you would be able to add to your style of playing, gradually making you invincible on the field.

4. Simulators -- modern technology has introduced simulators that would tell you where you are lacking while practicing the game. This not only helps you by providing you new ways and challenges just as you would find in a game, it would also act as a coach by correcting your wrong moves just as you make them.

5. Video feedback - Even if you do not have the latest technology you could always record yourself and watch the way you play. Be your best critique if you feel you can do that, or you take the video to your coach or a professional and ask them to analyze your game and point you into the direction where you could attempt to play your best game ever.

6. Compete constantly. You would be able to give your best only when you are pushed towards it; and what could you push more towards perfection other than competition? You need to find ways to compete with players that are better than you or at least equal to you. Do not waste time playing with anyone who is beneath you -- for that would not help.
